Re: Latest eBay finds
Very cool! Yeah, too bad he's in Montreal... and too bad I can't just take fun trips to Montreal these days (normally something I do at least once a year, what a city!)

Re: Latest eBay finds
Just a general comment - based on personal experience - on buying a second hand CD player, no matter how alluring it seems: Proceed with Caution.
Replacement Laser assemblies are getting harder to find, disk loading mechanisms wear out, remote control buttons become unresponsive, etc, etc. Even players that were highly desirable in their prime and are now available on the cheap might not look like such bargains when future repair costs are factored in.
My own Oppo, purchased new, is starting to exhibit tray loading problems and will need to be returned for repair soon. If I had to buy a replacement disk player at this point in time, I’d seriously consider a model like the Sony X-800:
https://www.sony.com/electronics/blu-ra ... ubp-x800m2
Plays CD, SACD, DVD Audio, DVD, Blu Ray, the lot, all for under US $300. Just plug it into your favorite DAC and you’re all set.
Edit: Looks like this model can also be used to extract DSD files from SACD.
Edit 2: Google shows that a region code free hack is possible. Hmmm.........
Edit 3: Found a long owners discussion thread here: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/offici ... k.3067046/

There's not a lot more to be said about those....the photos do enough damage on their own.

Re: Latest eBay finds
Hmm... naturally I am interested in anything like this
Any idea how it works or if it would possibly benefit someone like me who is already using a nicely designed wall shelf?

Re: Latest eBay finds
I wouldn’t, it’s basically a resonant element to add some colour action.

Re: Latest eBay finds
This looks like something of a bargain, and a very rare, beautifuly engineered deck:

If I had space, I'd be adding this one to the collection!
