Re: New record day
Do you think there's time for him to get that endorsement into his press pack?

I'd imagine he'd be all over it. Though isn't that what got him into trouble in the first place...

Love Clan of Xymox, most any 4AD to be honest!
I found my box of 45's this past week (was so worried they were lost for good). They are a pain to clean on the vacuum cleaner but every one is getting a wash. I will get a list of them up in a day or so as I think there might be some forgotten gems of our youth that some of you might be happy to remember.

Re: New record day
Another reason for my recent interest in mono -- this new Serge Gainsbourg set.
His first 8 LPs (and a bonus disc), half-speed mastered at Abbey Road. If you read French, everything you need to know is here: https://vinylcollector.store/blogs/news ... oi-ca-sert
https://www.hifiaf.com/wp-content/uploa ... 04189.jpeg
I'm a massive Gainsbourg fan, and I particularly love the early stuff (and, wow, can you beat that cover art?), so I couldn't pass this up. I've never heard the mono mixes, and the originals (many of them 10") are serious collectors' items, in the $500-1000+ range, so I was very happy to be able to get good versions of them for a reasonable price. (I paid 150 euros for the box, ordered from Amazon.fr -- a limited edition, apparently, so get 'em while you can.)
The discs in my box are all dead-flat, pressed by MPO on 180g vinyl.

Because of the aforementioned prices and the lack of any decent reissues, I have never heard any of these records on vinyl before. First impressions of the mono are very good, up there with the better-sounding mono records I've heard. Nothing particularly special compared to better stereo discs, but they do make me all the more curious to try out a mono cartridge at some point...

Re: New record day
I’ve just had this delivered: Keaton Henson ‘Monument’
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1381/ ... 1603450434
It’s on double white vinyl. I’m not sure how it’s a double album though because there don’t seem to be enough tracks - perhaps they are very long songs.....
Oh, be warned, this is not a terribly ‘uplifting’ record....

Hmm.... I’ve just had a look at the vinyl and it appears the tracks are just well spaced apart - there are only three tracks to a side and it’s still 33.3rpm. I’ve have a listen later (got to do some CAD now).
